Septona is planning a new production base in Ruse

Septona, the Greek manufacturer of cosmetic and pharmaceutical cotton products, plans to expand its presence in Bulgaria. The company is building a new production base in Ruse with a completely new line for the production of cotton tampons. For this purpose, two new automatic production machines will be purchased to replace some of the outdated equipment.

The company discloses its investment plans in its latest financial report, published in the Bulgarian commercial registry.

The company told the regional media Ruse Info that the procedure for issuing a permit for the construction of the new base has already started.

“The entire investment – ​​including new equipment from Germany and the USA, and a warehouse – has an estimated cost of about 20 million euros. The new production plant should create a total of about 150 new jobs,” said the general director of Septina, Konstantinos Akilidis.

The expanded capacity is expected to help attract new customers.

Septona is also exploring the possibilities of installing photovoltaic panels and making some of the energy used renewable.

The Bulgarian subsidiary is part of the Greek Septona SA. The main types of products it manufactures are personal hygiene products, such as makeup remover pads, earbuds and wet wipes. Production is mainly intended for export, with reports showing that around 80% of sales are in European Union countries.

The company`s profit last year fell to 283,000 euros (compared to 290,000 euros in 2022), with the reasons cited being the war in Ukraine, a slower-than-expected recovery of consumption, and an increase in labor costs in Bulgaria.

In view of the labor shortage, the company states that it is taking measures for a differentiated approach to attracting labor, including attracting foreign workers.
